Invest in our planet’s wildlife with Rescue Rebuild!
Rescue Rebuild is preparing for a fantastic summer project updating the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island and you can be a part of this renovation! This rehabilitation clinic is the only fully functional clinic dedicated to the veterinary care and treatment of all species of wild animals native to Rhode Island!
Currently, the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island cares for 6,000 birds and small mammals a year, including eagles, owls, hawks, raccoons, raptors, muskrats, and loons! But the limitations of their current space present challenges.
For example, the shorebirds brought into the clinic are cared for in a small, existing bathroom at the facility with a leaking shower. The staff is forced to use plastic tubs to conduct dive tests, which are required for release. The Rescue Rebuild team plans to demolish and build back a new shower that will include a small indoor pond and perches to make it much more suited for this use. It will be built using rocks and other natural features to help it feel as natural as possible!
The team also plans to build multiple enclosures to help the clinic respond to the significant increase in the clinic’s intake due to the pandemic and natural disasters. This will allow the clinic to take in more animals every year and reduce the stress on the animals and the staff!
And that is just a snapshot of the life-changing updates you can make possible for this wildlife clinic and the animals they care for!
Despite the challenges of their current space, the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island has a significantly higher live-release rate than the national average! We want to Amplify the Good they’re doing and make sustainable improvements to their facility that will last for years and years and help many animals! Donate today.
