Sweet Lena was brought in by a volunteer to a shelter in Tampa Bay. She was in constant pain, unable to open her mouth due to a fractured jaw. Since she was injured before coming to the shelter, no one is sure how it happened, but it affects Lena's ability to eat. She's receiving pain medication as doctors determine the severity of her injury, but this sweet girl certainly needs surgery to avoid permanent distortion of her face.
Lena's broken jaw impedes her ability to live a normal life. She needs oral surgery and a few weeks of rehabilitation, but then her prognosis is good! She'll soon be ready for adoption into a loving home.

M.j. Seeing the photo of Lena and reading her story, really drove home to me the absolute necessity of funding her. If the surgery to repair the lower jaw is not done quickly, the jaw will begin to "knit" the bone together as is, in other words, ossify in a very poor way. She would be unable to open or close the jaw, mouth properly and possibly be consigned receiving food by a feeding tube. It could also be quite painful. I could not allow that to happen to a kitten!! My love for kittens and cats is almost unlimited so I joyfully donated to her cause and wish the very best for her. It won't be easy for her post-operatively, but with time and healing she will have survived one of life's many challenges. Godspeed to Lena!!
